This site will be dedicated to my ongoing fascination of art, images, spatial arts, current events and film. The content will mostly be directed towards contemporary art and the issues that encircle it. There will be indulgences of other consumable media.
This summer was truly a bummer when it came to knock your socks off blockbuster cinema. I can't recall off of the top of my head anything remarkable, memorable, or captivating. Probably nothing that I will call revolutionary. A film can exist without sound but not without imagery. Roger Deakins is a truly phenomenal cinematographer that I have come to admire and I get excited when his work comes to the big screen. I'm looking forward to True Grit, his latest work with writer and directors Joel and Ethan Coen. Deakins is always so careful with picture framing and is quite oriented with composing with light and color that you can really feel a wide range of exposure within a sequence. There is a nice series of interviews from NPR's Melissa Block in which she sits down and talks with Deakins. He goes into detail his favorite scenes from No Country for Old Men and The Shawshank Redemption.
Also anticipated is the new release from writer director Sofia Coppola, Somewhere.
